Introducing Ditto: Cape Town's First Vegan Ice Cream Parlour

If you've been to Oranjezicht City Farm Market or the Vegan Goods Market recently, you might've noticed a bustling ice cream stand run by some bright-eyed youngsters, eager to share their fun flavours and reveal what makes their ice cream different: oat milk.

Well, the plot thickens – Soon you'll be able to enjoy their ice cream every day of the week!

Opening at a beautiful spot on 119 Kloof Street, Gardens on the 30th of October, Ditto on Kloof will be Cape Town’s first 100% plant-based ice-cream parlour and will redefine what ice cream can be. With over 40 flavours in development, ditto foods wants to give people the chance to enjoy the creamy texture and indulgent flavour of ice cream without the health, environmental, and welfare issues attached to traditional dairy. Better yet, ditto Foods is free from all common allergens – no soy, nuts, wheat, or lactose. It’s all of the good stuff, with none of the bad stuff.

Ditto's ice-cream has been in the development phase since before they even launched Oh Oat. They wanted to create something anyone would enjoy, whether they have a proclivity towards plant-based eating or not. Close to 300 ice-cream trials later, they developed a base which mimics dairy so closely that in a blind tasting you can’t tell the difference.

“We started ditto Foods to make it easy for consumers in South Africa to make healthy, sustainable, and humane dietary choices. We’re firm believers that delicious plant-based foods can and will change the world, a belief we’ve carried over from Oh Oat. Until now, there has been no true plant-based ice cream replacement indistinguishable from dairy. It's been incredibly rewarding to watch people try our ice cream for the first time, and see the total disbelief on their faces when we tell them it’s vegan, plant-based and dairy-free.”

If you’re in the city on Saturday the 30th of October, pop round for the launch and try it for yourself - you won't be disappointed.

Word on the street says the first 100 customers get a free scoop of ice cream and some kind of secret gift... See you there!
